Blue Collar Experience

#bluecollar

Program in development.

Currently we are looking into materials suitable for kids to handle, but provide the complexity to make the experience interesting for your child.  I am a Red Seal industrial mechanic.  I have 30 years experience in a wide variety of industries and trades.  I believe strongly in hands on experience with guidance and instruction is the best way for people to learn.

This would be a limited space experience, 5-6 placements only.

The project in mind is an old splash pad at our day camp.  Your child would spend the first day working with a team and participate in designing splash pad. Using measuring and layout tools, the team would have to work together to develop a plan. Guidelines and material will be provided for them to follow.  The materials will be a selection of piping, valves, electronic components, pumps, push buttons, and an assortment of other components so they can bring their ideas to life.  Basic fundamentals of rigging, plumbing, electrical, and other trade components.  The rest of the week they will work as a team assembling and building their design.

I know what parents are thinking, this is work!  The focus is on learning and we will make sure they have fun doing it. There will be lots of breaks where they will interact with the rest of the camp activities including games, meals and of course swimming.

Right now this is just an idea. I have lots more planning to do!

If this is something your child would be interested in doing. I would like to know the level of interest.
